Discover your voice

“Vincent was a patient and caring violin teacher for my son. He enjoyed learning from Vincent and improved as a musician under his tutelage.”

“Vincent met my daughter where she was at in her playing ability and immediately helped her feel comfortable playing for him and with him.  He models techniques for her and she looks forward to going to lessons. She has gone to other instructors for piano lessons, and I did not see the same rapport develop, and the result was a lack of interest and growth.  Vincent looks for ways to connect with his students, and through that connection can help the students find a way to connect to the music they are playing and then interest, skill development, and overall increase in confidence result.  I highly recommend Vincent as a music instructor.”

My teaching philosophy

My teaching philosophy is greatly influenced by the Suzuki Method pedagogy that I have studied and earned certifications in. The motto of the Suzuki Association of the Americas is “Every Child Can!” I firmly subscribe to this way of thinking in believing that music is for everyone, and that every person has the capacity and ability to learn to play an instrument.

I put a great emphasis on tailoring my lessons to the individual and meeting them where they are. Every person learns in different ways, and it is an important part of my role as a teacher to find the methods that are most conducive to the particular student’s learning. Additionally, I am endlessly inspired by the idea that I can help people discover their own unique voice through a very special medium. Music gives an outlet to people and allows them to express themselves and their emotions freely.

I also make sure to illuminate the incredible communication and social skills that studying music will provide. When we practice on our own, we are able to learn self-discipline and see the results of working hard at something for a longer period of time. When we play and perform with others, we are learning teamwork and compromise. Playing music with others has given me the most beautiful friendships and experiences of my life, and I want the same for my students. I want my students to feel proud of the work they put into becoming proficient at something, and above all, I want them to understand how much their artistry can have a positive impact on both themselves and the world around them.

I work hard to make my studio a very positive environment where I encourage my students and help them to believe in their abilities and intelligence. I want to foster confidence and a great sense of self-worth among my students. Oftentimes, it is easy to forget that music is something we enjoy and something that brings beauty into our lives. I hope my students will always remember why they fell in love with the art, and that they will continue to carry all of the aforementioned positive qualities throughout their lives.
